About the Show 

Young performers grades 1-6 are invited to join the PB&J Players for our YouTheatre production of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr!


Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr. brings to life the classic tale of Rudolph, the young reindeer who overcomes adversity with his glowing red nose. This heartwarming story follows Rudolph as he faces challenges and learns to embrace what makes him different. Along the way, he meets memorable characters like Hermey the Elf, who dreams of becoming a dentist, and Yukon Cornelius, the daring prospector. Together, they embark on an adventure that ultimately leads Rudolph to discover his true worth and how his unique trait can light the way for others.


This production, featuring young performers from grades 1-6, captures the magic of the holiday season with catchy songs, colorful characters, and an inspiring message about acceptance and the power of kindness. It's a story that resonates with audiences of all ages, reminding us that being different is something to celebrate. Whether you're revisiting this timeless tale or experiencing it for the first time, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr. is sure to bring joy and warmth to your holiday season.

Auditions: What You Need to Know

Who:

Actors in grades 1-6 (24-25 school year). 


When:

Sunday's auditions are now virtual due to flooding from the hurricane. To secure your audition, you must email Director of Operations Sadie Carr by 6:30pm on September 30th.


Where:

The Brookland Lakeview Empowerment Center in West Columbia: 1218 Batchelor St, West Columbia, SC 29169 (entrance faces Batchelor St. & The Palmetto Grand Lodge) Please arrive prior to the start time listed above, as we will audition as a group. The audition process should take approximately 2 hours. Parents will drop their actors off after check-in and come back at the end time listed above. 


Steps to take: 

  • Fill out the Online Audition Form and Conflict Calendar (Google Form)
  • Review the Production Information Sheet (pdf file). By signing the audition form, you agree to adhere to all listed requirements on this sheet. 
  • Auditionees do not need to prepare anything for auditions, come as you are! During auditions, actors will be asked to learn an excerpt of a song, a short dance combination, and will possibly read some lines from the script. Please wear closed-toed shoes and clothes you can move in. 
  • Actors only need to attend one audition session unless asked to return for a callback audition. 


After the audition:

  • The cast list will be sent out via email by Friday, October 4th @5pm. Here you will accept or decline your actor’s role. 
  • Rehearsals begin October 7th. Rehearsals will generally be held Monday through Friday evenings, Saturday times vary, and Sunday afternoons. The rehearsal schedule will be released after the first rehearsal. 
  • There will be a mandatory parent/actor meeting before the first rehearsal at 6pm. The meeting shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes. 
  • Rehearsal conflicts will not be accepted beginning November 10th. 
  • Performances will be November 22-24 at Brookland-Cayce High School (link opens in Google Maps). 
  • November 22nd at 7pm
  • November 23rd at 2pm
  • November 23rd at 7pm
  • November 24th at 3pm

Pricing:

There is no cost to audition, but participating young performers are required to pay a $125 participation ($250 max per family) fee by the first rehearsal in order to join us for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr. There are a limited number of scholarships available.
