Groovin' With Pete the Cat
Come on all you cool cats! Join Pete the Cat and all his friends for a fun week-long camp that will be totally groovy. Taught by experienced Theatre for the Very Young educator, Kathleen Pennyway, this camp will use imaginative play, stories, music and games to teach drama and literacy skills like improvisation and character creation.

Mythical Creatures
Calling all young mythologists! This summer, we’re going to learn all about mythical creatures through drama. Whether their favorite is unicorns, dragons, or BigFoot, students will grow their imagination and build skills in creativity and literacy! Taught by experienced Theatre for the Very Young educator Kathleen Pennyway, this play-based class will use stories, music and games to introduce our youngest actors to the world of theatre.

Totsy Turvy
Join us as we sing and dance, and use our imaginations! Throughout the week, we will learn about the basics of dance and how to follow directions, paired with free movement to music, story time, and a craft! It’s the perfect way to introduce your tot to the world of theatre and dance!
FOR STUDENTS WHO FINISHED GRADES K-8 IN THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR
These camps have options for actors at many different levels and interests. From the beginning actor to the musical theatre diva to the fantasy obsessed, these camps are designed to explore the actor’s toolbox and learn the basics of theatrical performance. Campers will present a showcase of their work on the final day of class.

Fantasy Fun
Fantasy Fun is a perfect introduction to the world of theatre for early learners. Throughout the week, campers will explore the basics of creative expression, storytelling, creative movement and pantomime, while also rehearsing a short play that fits the weekly theme!

Making a Scene
Grades 3-5 | $200
Specially designed for students in upper elementary school, Making a Scene leads campers through an exploration of the actor’s toolbox (voice, body, & imagination), with a special focus on imagination! This camp will hone these skills for young actors while they devise their own short play to be performed at the end of the week.

Singing, Dancing, and All That Jazz: Musical Theatre Camp
Grades 3-8 | $700
This two-week camp will focus on the rehearsal and performance of a musical. Under the direction of Artistic Associate Anna Swearingen and Theatre Teacher Sean Johnson, students will audition, rehearse blocking, music, and choreography, and perform their fully produced show for an audience on the last day of camp.

Avengers: Disney Edition

Disney Fans Assemble! Ever wish you could see a team up of the Genie from Aladdin, Olaf from Frozen, and Mr. Potato Head from Toy Story? Well now you can! In this interactive story-telling camp, campers will create their very own Disney team-ups that they will use to devise a superhero narrative (think Kingdom Hearts) that they will share at the end of the week.

The Middle School Actor

Dungeons and Dragons offers a unique opportunity to develop these skills. Join D&D aficionado, Toby O’Connor, on a roleplay-heavy quest as players dive into this popular tabletop game in this week-long camp. No experience required!

Costume Design
Grades 7-12 | $200
Join current UofSC Theatre student, Mel Driggers, as they introduce campers to the fundamentals of costume design. From creating renderings to diving deep into script analysis, students will gain the knowledge they need to design costumes for a theatrical production. Students will leave the class with costume renderings for a show of their choice. *This is not a sewing class, as we are focussing more on design rather than construction

Students will explore appropriate techniques for auditions from selecting pieces to "marketing" themselves correctly. Students will demonstrate their understanding of the theatrical auditioning process by preparing for an in-class audition. Students will complete the class with a headshot, resume and 2 contrasting pieces perfect for auditions of any level.
